User Account Continuity Policy

Account Life Cycle

Research Computing will perform a yearly account validation to determine whether a researcher’s account at Northeastern’s High Performance Computing (HPC) Cluster is still in use. As part of this validation, RC will contact all users each term to confirm that their account should remain active.

PIs are responsible for adding and removing group members to their project-specific storage spaces. Only active Northeastern University accounts can be added.

If a user has an active account on the cluster, and would like to transfer their permanent and/or archival data to another user, they must create a ticket informing their intent to the research computing team, while their own account is active. The recipient user must also has an active account on the cluster and the recipient must accept the transfer of data.

When a PI leaves Northeastern University

When a PI’s primary appointment and performance place ceases to be Northeastern University permanently, the PI is responsible for transferring their data. This must be done while they have an active Northeastern account.

Research Computing is unable to transfer data to anyone outside of Northeastern or without an active Northeastern University account and an active cluster account.
